How to use it
Masu-stem + 「よう」 forms a noun meaning "way of doing"; it extends into 「~ようがない」 (no way to do it) and 「~ようにも~ない」 (can't do it even if one wants to).
- 「Vます形+よう」 = a way/method of doing something: 「書きよう」 (way of writing), 「言いよう」 (way of saying).
- Extension 1: 「~ようがない」 = there's no way to do it — 「連絡しようがない」 (there's no way to contact them).
- Extension 2: 「~ようにも~ない」 = can't do it even if one wants to (due to circumstances) — 「休もうにも休めない」 (I can't rest even if I want to).
Examples
連絡先が分からず、知らせようがない。
I have no way to let them know — I don’t have their contact details.

Keep in mind
- Attaches to the masu-stem (different from 「~ように」 indicating purpose).
- The two extended forms appear very often on the exam.

「ようがない」 attaches to the MASU-STEM (解き), not the dictionary form.

Correct「言いよう」は「言い方」の意味だ。
「~ように」 (in the manner of/so that) is completely different from 「Vます形+よう」 (way of doing) — don't confuse the two patterns.
