How to use it
A total negation about people: not a single person does/knows something. The 「~ないです」 form is the everyday version.
MUST be paired with a negative — there's no such sentence as 「だれも来ます」.
- 「が」 or 「を」 is never attached after 「だれも」: 「だれもが知らない」 is a different pattern (= even everyone doesn't know, written style).
Examples
Nobody knows about that.
Nobody is coming today.
Keep in mind
- The more formal version is 「だれも~ません」.
Common mistakes
-
Wrong
No one knows about that at all.
Correct
「だれも」 forces the following clause to be negative: 知る → 知らない.
-
Wrong
No one knows about that at all.
Correct
Don't combine 「だれか」 with 「も」; a total negation only uses 「だれも」.
Exam tips
