Klausa berikutnya adalah penilaian pembicara.

  • 「ということは」 = that means, so. A is a sign, B is the inference: 「彼女が泣いている。
For simply restating the same content, 「つまり」 is more suitable.
  • In conversation it is also used alone to confirm something: 「

  • The lights are off. That means he must have gone home.

  • The cake is left over. Does that mean everyone was full?

  • Klausa berikutnya adalah kesimpulan, disertai kata dugaan.

The light is off. That means the window is open.

The following clause must be a logical inference from clue A (light off → they must have left); "the window is open" cannot be inferred from the light being off.

She is crying. So that must mean something happened.

The sign must come FIRST, the inference after.

  • 「ということは」 = that means (an INFERENCE from clues); for simply restating the content, 「つまり」 is more suitable.
