How to use it
Presents two options in a QUESTION and asks the listener to choose one.
- 「それとも」 is used ONLY in questions: 「行きますか。それとも、やめますか」.
- Different from 「または」 (used in declarative sentences to state a choice of options: 「メールまたは電話でご連絡ください」) and 「あるいは」 (written style).
- A declarative sentence listing options does NOT use 「それとも」 — this is a very common mistake.
