How to use it

States the RELATED SCOPE of a topic. More formal than 「について」, often used in written language.

• 「Nに関する＋N」 (modifier) / 「Nに関して」 (adverbial) = related to, regarding N.
• More formal than 「について」; common in document titles, reports, notices.
• Its scope is slightly WIDER than 「について」 — including things that are related, not just the main topic itself.

Examples

• 環境(かんきょう)に関(かん)する記事(きじ)を読(よ)みました。

  I read an article about the environment.

• この件(けん)に関(かん)して、質問(しつもん)があります。

  I have a question regarding this matter.

Keep in mind

• Modifying form: 「に関する＋N」; adverbial form: 「に関して」.
• More formal than 「について」.
