How to use it
Expressing a wish to ASK a superior to do something — the highest level of politeness in the requesting group.
- Politeness scale: 「~てほしい」(casual) < 「~てもらいたい」(ordinary) < 「~ていただきたい」(humble honorific).
- Saying 「~ていただきたい」bluntly sounds a bit forceful; add 「のですが」to soften it and leave it open-ended: 「手伝っていただきたいのですが」.
